Artists
How are artist applications judged?
Applications are reviewed by a committee using a rubric that considers both artistic quality and fit with the festival. We look at:
–Persistence – dedication to theme, medium, or subject matter
–Experimentation – creativity, originality, and risk-taking
–Purpose & Expression – clarity of artistic intent
-Craft – intentional and effective use of materials
-Festival Fit – family-inclusive work suitable for a public setting
-Local Connection – priority is given to artists with ties to our region
This helps ensure the festival showcases art that is creative, meaningful, and welcoming to all audiences.
What kind of space is provided for artists?
Each artist is typically allocated an 8 × 8 ft space located within a heritage building on the festival grounds. As these are historic structures, electricity may or may not be available. Artists should plan to bring battery-powered lighting if needed. Display grids and hanging hardware may be available upon request, and volunteers are on hand to assist with setup and takedown.
